Dr. Juan Gallastegui is a conductor and educator with a wide-ranging career leading wind bands, orchestras, and educational ensembles across the United States and Spain. He has conducted the Rogue Valley Symphonic Band, Rockville Concert Band, D.C. Strings Orchestra, Prince William Youth Orchestras, and the Accord Symphony Orchestra, as well as student ensembles at the high school and college levels. His conducting is marked by technical clarity, expressive depth, and a commitment to musical excellence.
Dr. Gallastegui has taught conducting at the college level, most recently serving as adjunct instructor at Southern Oregon University, where he led advanced instruction in gesture, score study, and rehearsal technique. He is also the Founder & Director of 2 Batons Music Enterprises, LLC, a company focused on conductor coaching, the promotion of Spanish composers in the U.S., and the upcoming launch of a dedicated music publishing division.
In addition to his work on the podium, he holds a Ph.D. in Music History and a Master’s in Music History from the University of La Rioja (Spain), a Master of Music in Orchestral Conducting from Bard College (New York), a Master’s in Secondary Education from the University of Cantabria, and a Double Bachelor’s Degree in Tuba Performance and Music Pedagogy from the Conservatory of Navarra.
While currently serving as Executive Director of the Bremerton WestSound Symphony, Dr. Gallastegui’s foundation remains firmly rooted in performance and education. He is also a 2025 participant in the League of American Orchestras’ Essentials of Orchestra Management program.
Through all of his work—as a conductor, educator, and arts leader—Dr. Gallastegui’s mission is to connect, elevate, and inspire through music.
