Dr. Juan Gallastegui is a conductor, educator, and arts executive with extensive experience leading orchestras, wind ensembles, and educational music programs in both the United States and Spain. He has served as Music Director and Conductor of ensembles including the Accord Symphony Orchestra, Rogue Valley Symphonic Band, Rockville Concert Band, D.C. Strings Orchestra, and the Prince William Youth Orchestras, in addition to conducting collegiate and secondary-level ensembles. His conducting is distinguished by technical clarity, expressive depth, and a strong commitment to artistic excellence.

As an educator, Dr. Gallastegui has taught conducting and music studies at the university level, most recently serving as Adjunct Faculty at Southern Oregon University, where he taught advanced conducting, score analysis, rehearsal technique, and musicianship. He is also the founder and director of 2 Batons Music Enterprises, LLC, a consulting and publishing company dedicated to conductor development, arts leadership, and the promotion of Spanish composers in the United States.

Alongside his artistic work, Dr. Gallastegui has built a career in nonprofit arts leadership and orchestral administration. He currently serves as Managing Director of Tempesta di Mare in Philadelphia, where he oversees organizational strategy, operations, fundraising, and institutional growth. Previously, he held executive and operational leadership positions with orchestras including the Bremerton WestSound Symphony and the Rogue Valley Symphony.

Dr. Gallastegui holds a Ph.D. and Master’s degree in Music History from the University of La Rioja (Spain), a Master of Music in Orchestral Conducting from Bard College (New York), a Master’s degree in Secondary Education from the University of Cantabria, and dual undergraduate degrees in Tuba Performance and Music Pedagogy from the Conservatory of Navarra. He was also selected as a participant in the League of American Orchestras’ Essentials of Orchestra Management program.
